Watermelon & Feta Salad

Here's a simple recipe I've been wanting to try for quite some time now.

I love watermelon.  I love feta.  I have an abundance of basil growing in the garden.  Mix the three together and you get a pretty yummy summer salad.

I also got to practice some food styling and photography with the vintage melon baller that I picked up at an estate sale a few months ago.

What simple summer recipes are you loving right now?

  3. Good morning from Tokyo!

Amy, this looks like such a refreshing, delicious salad. The savory/sweet combination is always a delight to the palate! One thing I'll miss about living in Tokyo, and what we're living off of right now, are all the exotic, fresh fruits. Lychee, mango, passion fruits galore. They're a nice little change from our normal staples of blueberries/bananas/strawberries. That said, I'm looking forward to the farmer's markets in LA and making blueberry pancakes in the Fall!

Thank you for sharing another delicious recipe for the summer days!

    Warmly,

    Elizabeth

PS~Thank you for sharing about your trip to China. It sounds like you made some wonderful memories there. I hope you'll share with us one day!

  4. There's something intrinsically Southern about the combination of savory & sweet. My Mama puts salt on her watermelon & cantaloupe. I do too sometimes. But i like your idea of feta much better! I always have feta on hand - can't wait to try this soon. We've got a boatload of basil this season too, but i'm trying to preserve it to make tons of pesto to freeze for the Fall & Winter. I may try my mint with the watermelon tho!

Great idea & so pretty Amy-thanks!
